Madre’s Mexican Restaurant was an incredible host for our Black Women of Charleston Anniversary Celebration. From the very beginning, their team was welcoming, accommodating, and truly invested in helping us bring our vision to life. The private patio created the perfect setting for our event and allowed our guests to comfortably connect, celebrate, and enjoy the evening. The food was absolutely delicious, and the taco bar was a huge hit with our ladies. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The drinks were just as great, and the staff handled our group with professionalism and care, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. As the founder of Black Women of Charleston, it is important to partner with venues that value both quality and guest experience, and Madre’s exceeded expectations. We truly appreciate their flexibility, communication, and support throughout the planning process. We look forward to working with them again and highly recommend them for group events and celebrations.

The atmosphere here is terrible. It’s similar to cafeteria style seating. There is also a loud giant fan that is blowing obnoxious air. Food was good, but not having free chips and salsa is a shame.

The restaurant atmosphere felt very welcoming and like a home. The food was amazing and so was the staff. Everything was perfect. Val was my server last time I went, she was very sweet, very helping, and made sure everything was good. She made my day!

My friend recommended we come here for lunch since it was fairly new to DT Summerville. The bar was vibrant, but the dining room seemed a bit dull. We ordered the trio dip and I loved the chunky guacamole. You could tell the chips were house made and they were very crispy and crunchy. I did find that they broke to pieces and crumbled very easily, so while they did taste good I do prefer a more simple tortilla chip that can scoop and dip a bit easier. I got the 2 taco combo plate, and I really enjoyed the rice compared to many rices I’ve had before. These tacos were bigger than expected so you get a good portion of food for lunch. The server was attentive and took good care of us. I would want to come back to try their margaritas!

I would describe this place as a kid friendly tex-mex restaurant with great service. The food was a very basic version of Chipotle. My kid loved it. From an adult perspective the food is uninspiring, lacks flavor, and has zero heat. We ordered the hot chips and salsa, the chips had a nice texture but the hot salsa needs some work. The salsa was watery and lacked body with very little heat (I would put it on the high side of mild). I ordered a barabacoa burrito and again it lacked flavor. Some kind of salsa or queso would give it some personality. Some more Mexican spices/flavor (not necessarily heat) would be super beneficial to everything I had on the menu.
