I took my dog there the evening of July 4, 2025. She had been breathing hard and acting kind of dizzy for a few days. She Was an approximately 12-year-old Jack Russell terrier. When I got home from work on July 4, She was in distress. She was breathing hard and she was kind of wobbling around. I immediately got her in the car and took her to blue Pearl in Somerville. I called before I got there to let them know What was going on. When I got there, they took her back and I sat in the waiting room for several hours with no update. There was a point where I got down on my knees And prayed in front of everyone. I waited for hours. When I finally asked for an update, the person at the desk Said that there were other dogs with more emergent problems in mine that the vets were working on at that time. That made me believe that My Piper would be OK. When I finally got called back five or six hours I’ve arrived, The veterinarian said that my piper was in severe distress and that she may not make it through the night. I had to make a decision, the hardest decision that I’ve ever had to make in my entire life. And they knew as soon as I arrived the condition my dog was in yet they made me sit there and endure all the pain and suffering and watch every other animal come out alive. That was the worst night of my life. They could’ve handled things so much differently. If they let me know when I got there That my baby might even not have a chance of making it. That would’ve made all the difference in the world. Yet They kept telling me that that other animals had more emerge it situations than mine, Which led me to believe that my dog was OK and was going to make it.

I have used Mt P and Summerville Blue Pearl and this is great emergency care. One of our visits years ago resulted in a stay in their ICU and phenomenal care. Great Vet Nurses and Docs. They had no problem working with my budget and prioritizing interventions. Thank you so much for taking care of Ollie! Shoutout to Dr. Johnson

I HIGHLY recommend Blue Pearl Pet Hospital!! My 10 year old toy Pom suddenly stopped eating. I took her to an urgent care on two separate occasions but they didn’t have a diagnosis. So I took her to Blue Pearl Pet Hospital. They suspected what was wrong immediately and did an ultrasound to confirm. It was a life threatening infection requiring emergency surgery. Dr. Goode was wonderful and saved my baby’s life. She and the technicians explained everything to me step-by-step in a way that I could understand and they did not rush me when I had questions. The staff were all top notch especially technician Kendra and front desk Kelly. All the front desk ladies were so kind. The hospital is very clean and organized. I am new to South Carolina (5 months) so finding Blue Pearl was a dream come true. I will be using them again for my 16 year old Calico kitty who is not well and I think is at the end of her life. Love you all!

I had a mixed experience here. Dr. Harris, the vet techs, and administrative staff were on point. They showed compassion and support for me and my dog who i had brought it in for a sudden case of pancreatitis. The first vet I interacted with Dr. A--- was anything but kind or compassionate. Her 'bedside manner' consisted her being rude, evasive, and arrogant. I brought my dog in at 930pm on a Sunday. An hour later Dr. A--- says that my dog needs xrays. I say fine and authorize the xrays to be taken. What she doesn't tell me is that it could take anywhere from 1 to 2 hrs to get the results back because they just take them. A different lab actually reads them. So finally at 1230am, im called back to talk with Dr. A---. Seconds after she enters the room she tells me my dog's condition. Does she give me a status update like is she still in pain? Nope. Does she say anything nice or kind about my dog? Nope. She just tells me my dog has an enlarged liver. When I asked how my dog is she looks taken a back and says that my dog is laying down in a crate. I ask about her pain. She responds that my dog is medicated. She then smirks and says that if I want she can arrange for me to see my dog. Like what the hell. Yes, I would like to see my 11 year old dog who was clearly in pain when I brought her in. How is that funny? Then when I question her about the quantity of pain medication she wants to give my dog because it ranged from 3 to 9 dosages, she says that she's 'not trying to take my money' and that anything not used with be credited back to me. Like yeah, why don't I trust this rude vet who has already failed to provide crucial info about the xrays and has been rude and uncaring. Yeah, she's totally earned my trust. I finally agree to everything and pay for it. All together to get my dog treated for pancreatitis costs just shy if 4000. As this is an emergency vet im not too surprised. I do wish the first vet had actually displayed some sort of compassion or kindness. I can't imagine their job is easy, but spending thousands of dollars and seeing a dog you've had for over a decade in pain isn't easy either.

Both Vets that saw our Bella were knowledgeable and caring. In the end we had to have Bella put to sleep to end her suffering. All of the folks at BluePearl were Compassionate and caring during our time of this heartbreak. We were able to stay with our pup and hold her to say goodbye. Thank You to all the folks at BluePearl
