MEDcare Urgent Care – Summerville

No complaints about the medical care offered (by nurse practioner). The wait before being seen seemed a little longer than it should’ve been. I did all registration ahead of time online and received a timeslot. Arrived early; no one in waiting room, yet it took 45 mins to be seen. The office and exam room were clean but showing a little wear. The place could use an update or refresh.

MEDcare Urgent Care was fantastic. I was able to check-in online and had less than a five minute wait when I arrived. Everyone was very nice and professional . I left there feeling like I was valued as a patient. I was in and out in less than an hour.

I arrived on time for my 10:48 appointment, checked in at 10:44, and was later told that I had somehow missed my time. I was finally called back, had vitals taken and gave a urine sample in under 5 minutes, then left sitting in the exam room for almost 40 minutes in severe pain while hearing staff laughing and talking up front. Despite my symptoms (kidney pain, swelling, and abdominal pain), no physician ever came in to see me. All that was done was a lab test, and I was left waiting until I finally had to leave and go to the emergency room to get actual care. The most concerning part is that my lab results were completed and reviewed at 11:24 AM, while I was still sitting in the room, yet nobody ever came in to explain them or begin treatment. I actually walked out at 11:35 AM, after saying goodbye to the front desk, and at that time there was only one patient waiting. It still took the clinic almost an hour after I left to realize I was gone and discharge me in their system. My urine showed abnormal findings (nitrites, leukocytes, blood in urine) that typically indicate a UTI, but nothing was ever addressed. This is completely unprofessional and dangerous. I’ve been seen at this urgent care before in less time even when they were busy, but this experience showed a serious lack of compassion and accountability. Patients should not be left in pain, without ever seeing a provider, and forced to go to the ER just to be evaluated.

We’ve been here plenty of times and have had some unsatisfactory experiences but today Tyler one of the PAs was super sweet and listened to what I had to say and helped me even tho they were closing in like 10 minutes. The front desk ladies and my nurse that triaged me and the one who gave me my shots were all wonderful as well!!

After quite the fiasco trying to get both of my children seen elsewhere, we arrived at Medcare and I was able to quickly check them both in and be in and out within 30 minutes of arriving. Very happy with two sick kids! Everyone was friendly. While I hope I don’t have to return soon, I would.
