Madre’s Mexican Restaurant was an incredible host for our Black Women of Charleston Anniversary Celebration. From the very beginning, their team was welcoming, accommodating, and truly invested in helping us bring our vision to life. The private patio created the perfect setting for our event and allowed our guests to comfortably connect, celebrate, and enjoy the evening. The food was absolutely delicious, and the taco bar was a huge hit with our ladies. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The drinks were just as great, and the staff handled our group with professionalism and care, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. As the founder of Black Women of Charleston, it is important to partner with venues that value both quality and guest experience, and Madre’s exceeded expectations. We truly appreciate their flexibility, communication, and support throughout the planning process. We look forward to working with them again and highly recommend them for group events and celebrations.

The food was great!! I didn’t love that the chips and salsa were not complimentary like most Mexican places. In fact, we ordered an appetizer of queso, guacamole and salsa, and when we ran out of chips with a lot left to eat we were told they would charge more for those chips. That felt silly considering there wasn’t enough to begin with. Other than the food tasted great! There seemed to be only one person working the whole place at lunch. That was a little odd, but she handled it well and it wasn’t terribly busy.

Authentic Mexican food is laughable. This made my Mexican ancestors roll in their grave. The food had absolutely no flavor. Shredded chicken tasted like leather. Salsa wasn’t even salsa. Chips were stale and like a day old. The rice wasn’t even Mexican rice. Never seen white rice served and passed off as Mexican. This genuinely made me so sad.

The restaurant atmosphere felt very welcoming and like a home. The food was amazing and so was the staff. Everything was perfect. Val was my server last time I went, she was very sweet, very helping, and made sure everything was good. She made my day!

My friend recommended we come here for lunch since it was fairly new to DT Summerville. The bar was vibrant, but the dining room seemed a bit dull. We ordered the trio dip and I loved the chunky guacamole. You could tell the chips were house made and they were very crispy and crunchy. I did find that they broke to pieces and crumbled very easily, so while they did taste good I do prefer a more simple tortilla chip that can scoop and dip a bit easier. I got the 2 taco combo plate, and I really enjoyed the rice compared to many rices I’ve had before. These tacos were bigger than expected so you get a good portion of food for lunch. The server was attentive and took good care of us. I would want to come back to try their margaritas!
