From start to finish, our experience was amazing. The whole team was so kind, patient, and reassuring, which meant so much on a day that was already stressful. They made us feel comfortable the entire time, answered all my questions, and treated her with so much care and compassion. Everything was so smooth and organized, and before I knew it, she was already in recovery. I really appreciated how efficient everything was while still making us feel like we mattered. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and I’m so grateful to everyone who took such good care of my daughter. I would absolutely recommend this office to any parent looking for a caring, professional dental team.

They took the time to explain every step of the procedure beforehand, so I always knew what to expect and felt confident that my daughter was in great hands. Everything between communication and helping get things in order to having the procedure done for my child was amazing and smooth. The receptionist was so kind and sweet. Doctors and staff in the back were all extremely helpful and supportive over everything! My child’s experience was amazing!

Sleepy Owl was the dentist office in Summerville that offered top tier service to my 6 year old daughter as she received oral surgery in early June. The office staff and surgical team members took the time to inform us of each phase of the surgery, offered great inofrmation, reassured us of the best routes and plans to take for her recovery, as well as remaining professional during our visit. Everyone was extremely friendly and informative. This review is not a personal attack against a single person there. They seem like wonderful people and I did feel like they cared about my child's outcome and well being. The lady at the front desk is so sweet, and all their customer service and bed side manners are wonderful. Things I feel could be done in the office to improve the experience for children ( and parents) I feel that we were sent off far too early with our son. I don't think a kid coming off anesthesia should be getting into a car incredibly confused and fighting his parents. At one point I was afraid he was going to throw himself out of the window ( thank goodness for child locks.) He was so confused and so scared. Maybe 20 more minutes would have been an enormous improvement in safety returning home, even with another adult sitting in the back with them. I am aware not all children react this way but the potential for real danger is there. Secondly, he ended up being in a lot of pain but had a numb and bloody mouth and majorly out of it for a good hour after awakening. He couldn't take medication. I feel like the children should be given IV anti inflammatory medication or even Tylenol before they awake. That medication could have been way on it's way to starting to work. That would have helped a lot and seems to be a possibility. The 3rd thing is such an easy easy fix. I want to suggest stopping the use of surgical tape to tape up IV sites after removal. Paper tape or coband are so much better for the skin. Taking that dang tape off hurts like the devil, takes off the entire epidermis if you arent careful. It's entirely far too aggressive a tape to use for a simple small IV site. It's water-resistant, has an acrylic adhesive, and designed to keep bulky medical tubing and heavy dressings locked down. It ended up being an entire full day issues with our child, and he had a reaction to the tape. Much less likely to get a reaction with coband or probably anything else. I have unfortunately had some issues with teeth for myself and my other children and I have never had so much chaos and upset with it. I dont like the ketamine they gave my child. The whole point is to avoid trauma and I feel like getting a shot ( even though the anesthesiologist was seemless about giving it) and having 2 sore arms after the fact, one from the shot, one from tape reaction, and pain in his entire mouth, and complete terror traveling home was unnecessary. We have done this before without all of the extra issues and I have worked in the medical field including in pediatrics for over 24 years. I feel like the entire point for my child to go through this procedure was to try and reduce trauma at the dentist. Unfortunately, I feel like he experienced so much more as a result of the procedures and medical practices at Sleepy Owl. And now we are all kinda traumatized. I do believe these are things that could just be a simple improvement to the entire experience and I really do urge them to look at their practices and see where improvements can be made.
