Set right in the heart of downtown, Hutchinson Square is where Summerville comes together. It is a quick stop for a photo and a peaceful place to sit for a while, but it also becomes a lively event lawn when the town hosts concerts, festivals, and seasonal celebrations.

The raised pavilion is the focal point, designed with a nod to Summerville’s history. On a typical day, it feels like a calm pocket of green between shops and restaurants. On event nights, it turns into a natural amphitheater where the crowd spreads out across the lawn.
The fountain and landscaping give the square a finished, welcoming feel, and the benches make it easy to pause and people-watch. Hutchinson Square is also a great “meet here first” landmark before walking Main Street for coffee, dinner, or dessert.

We LOVE Hutchinson square! So many fun events held here every year. Summerville is a special place and should be celebrated!
Beautiful, shaded and peaceful. This Historic park has been a communal hub since it was first created in the early 1800's. The pavilion was inspired by the depot that once stood nearby in the late 1800's. The corner sign replicates a similar sign that once stood there. Many celebrations are held here throughout each year.
Tucked in the heart of Summerville, Hutchinson Square offers a refreshing blend of small-town tranquility and easy access to local culture. The square’s elegant fountain serves as a soothing centerpiece—its soft sounds create a calming ambiance that pairs perfectly with a shaded bench beneath one of the many graceful trees. Whether you're sipping coffee, reading, or simply people-watching, this spot invites you to slow down and settle in. A nearby statue adds a touch of character and history to the square without overwhelming its natural beauty. The layout is clean, inviting, and pedestrian-friendly, making it an ideal starting point before exploring nearby boutiques, restaurants, and quirky local finds. 📍 Don't miss a photo op with the World’s Largest Sweet Tea, located just a short stroll from the square. It’s delightfully over-the-top in the best possible way—a playful contrast to the square’s refined vibe. Perfect for casual visits, laid-back lunch breaks, or quiet reflection, Hutchinson Square is a thoughtful blend of Southern charm and local life.
Great area to shop from local vendors. Great food and wine bars! Amazing atmosphere to hangout with friends and family. They host many fun events, I went to a few and I enjoyed them all. Many locals come and sell jewelry and I purchased many beautiful non-expensive handmade items. It’s a nice place to clear your mind. We’ll decorate when holidays arrive!
A beautiful small town square. It's nice to walk around and meet local people. Small area but it has a water fountain and a stage. Plenty of chairs to sit and enjoy. You can find a dozen of good restaurants in a walkable distance. A good spot to take professional photos.
