What a hidden gem! The small courtyard here is absolutely charming — definitely one of the coolest little spots you’ll find. At the heart of it all is the sweetest statue of a mason jar, perfectly named Mason! It’s a fun tribute to Southern hospitality and, of course, sweet tea. The details are incredible, and it gives the whole courtyard such a welcoming, relaxed vibe. Definitely worth a stop to snap a photo and soak it all in. Loved it!

Well hidden behind several buildings. That surprised us since the Summerville visitor info hypes it a lot. You can park in a parking garage near the court house. We walked past a spot labeled "reserved for prisoner transfer"! If you are strolling around the area, this is worth a quick trip. But once you take a picture of it, there's nothing else to do there

Neat little ‘hidden’ gem in Summerville SC. Plenty of other shops and stores around the block or so surrounding it that you can visit as well, but don’t go on a Sunday or most won’t be open, or will close very early.

Tucked between two buildings in downtown Summerville, the world's largest sweet tea stands tall and unapologetically Southern. Known affectionately as Mason, this towering mason jar sculpture holds over 2,500 gallons and earned its Guinness World Record in 2016. It is not just a roadside attraction but a symbol of Summerville's claim as the birthplace of sweet tea. The sculpture is easy to miss if you are not looking for it, but once spotted, it delivers a quirky charm. The tea itself is not just for show. During festivals like the annual Sweet Tea Festival, Mason is filled with real tea and served to visitors. Locals take pride in the tradition, and as former Mayor Bill Collins once said, "Sweet tea is more than a drink. It is a way of life in Summerville." Whether you are a tea enthusiast or simply chasing roadside Americana like me, Mason offers a refreshing pause and a photo op that is both sincere and a little bit silly.

Tucked away between the parking deck and town hall! Fun to stumble upon it. My kids got a kick out of it.
