This shelter goes above and beyond for adopters and the animals in their care. The staff were very patient and informative while introducing me to their dogs. I did a foster to adopt for a month until my dog was spayed. During that time (and even after) they answered questions, provided medical care, and helped me through the beginning stages of dog ownership. I am so thankful for this shelter, and the little goober they entrusted to me.

I’ve adopted 3 cats from here through local pet stores. I just visited the facility today with my son. Ms. Paula, who is a volunteer, was so sweet! You can tell she really loves and cares about the cats there. The facility was clean and well kept. Two of our cats came from the shelter to a pet store. They were healthy. Our second kitten was in a foster home, then taken to the store for adoption. I got to meet his foster family and they seemed like really kind hearted people who saved Jinx’s (Lucky/Nublin) life. He was well fed and tolerates my toddler’s antics like a Labrador. I would highly recommend adopting from them to anyone.

We lost our 20-year-old cat born on our kitchen floor 20 years ago in New York a couple months ago. We couldn't take in anymore so we went to Dorchester paws and adopted two cats. One kitten, 6 months old and a cat who had already had a litter 2 years old. They're fitting in very nicely here. The staff at Dorchester paws is terrific, helpful, friendly, courteous, and they continued the antibiotic treatment for free and had us bring back the kitten to be spayed for free as well. Terrific organization. Very high percentage of each contribution goes toward helping animals directly. Please support them

Little one is perfect for our family! He was well looked after by this shelter and they followed up to see if he was doing well with us a week later. Couldn't be happier with him in our family!

Dorchester Paws is a local no kill shelter since 2017, worthy of your volunteer time and donations. Clean linens, gently used pet gear, food and snacks. Everyone there is kind and helpful. They always need fosters or for you to provide a furever home.
