Chinese Express – Summerville, SC (Lowcountry) 2008 Old Trolley Rd Summerville, SC 29485 ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ 3.9/5 Stars If you're looking for a quick Chinese buffet in the Summerville, South Carolina Lowcountry, Chinese Express lives up to its name. This isn't the place to visit if you're expecting a huge buffet with endless choices, but if you're short on time and want a satisfying meal, it's definitely worth considering. The staff stood out immediately. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made sure guests were taken care of throughout the meal. Service was one of the strongest parts of the experience. The surprise star of the buffet was the General Tso's Chicken. It looked different from the traditional version you'll find at most Chinese buffets, but don't let that fool you—it was one of the tastiest dishes we tried and easily the highlight of the meal. Pricing was right in line with what you'd expect from a typical Chinese buffet, averaging $15–20 per person, depending on your drink selection, making it a fair value for the area. Another thing Chinese Express gets right is speed. They truly embrace the "Express" part of their name. We were seated quickly, served efficiently, and back on the road in no time. If you're traveling through the Lowcountry or on a lunch break, this is a convenient stop when time matters. There were a few drawbacks. The egg rolls were noticeably over-salted, which seemed more like a supplier issue than something made in-house. The biggest downside, however, was the buffet itself. It was the smallest buffet selection we've encountered, offering only a limited number of the typical Chinese buffet favorites. If you enjoy lots of variety, you may find yourself wishing there were more options. Parking can also be a challenge since the restaurant is tucked into a corner with a very tight, limited parking area. Overall Rating: 3.9/5 ⭐ Chinese Express delivers exactly what its name promises—fast, friendly service and a quick meal. While the buffet selection is smaller than most competitors, the excellent General Tso's Chicken, attentive staff, reasonable pricing, and efficient service make it a solid choice when you're pressed for time in the Summerville area. Would we stop here again? Yes—especially if we're in a hurry and craving that unique General Tso's Chicken. We Stayed There Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (3.9/5) Until the next stop... stay curious, travel often, and we'll tell you if it's worth it.

The taste of the dishes was very good. However the temperature was tepid at best. The fried fish was actually cold. I’m not sure how they’re passing health inspections with temps not being kept hot. (Even warm was not there)

I have visited this Chinese buffet restaurant for many years with my family. The staff is always pleasant always polite kudo's to the team especially Alisa and Caroline Never short of attention, the food is delicious. They have the BEST steamed dumplings.

Have been going here for the past 15 years, with the last 5 years being on the other side of town we visited less and less. Just so happened to be on that side today and ordered the usual. Beef & broccoli dinner with rice Smaller rice Not more styrofoam containers, no bamboo shoots, NOT REAL BEEF (some sort of gummy meat) At least it was packed with broccoli cause I refuse to eat the “meat” and I have thrown the food in the trash. After seeing the reviews I understand now, this is not the same restaurant as it was. Honestly wish I was on that side of town to take it back for a refund.

I had been buying from Chinese Express for many, many years. It was always delicious, but yesterday’s carry out was not good. The fried rice was burnt, sweet & sour chicken was more dough than chicken. I am not sure if there is new ownership but very disappointing.
