while extremely consistent, i think the parking policy is insane. immediate tow for any violation is just too much, along with paying $315. it is dog friendly which leads to sticky floors in the elevator all the time. it is a nice community, but for me to pay $1700 after fees, i expect a lot more. amenities are great, staff is kind, and maintenance solves my issues quickly, but i cannot get over cleanliness, and FEES FOR EVERYTHING!!!!! it’s like if HOA was an apartment complex. overall, beautiful on the outside, but not worth the price tag at all

I’m a long term tenant at The Murray. I’ve lived here almost since the beginning. I continue to renew because of the exceptional service I continue to receive from the office and maintenance team. There’s a lot of new developments popping up throughout Charleston/ Summerville but having a team like The Murray has that work together, are easy to talk to and always put the community and residents first is why I don’t ever think about moving elsewhere. Management does all they can to communicate with building, front door and email notices and communication, maintenance consistently gets to your work orders within 24 hours. Having people bad mouth because they don’t take accountability themselves to sign up for parking which took me less than 5 minutes, had a free rollout period for 6 weeks. There is a Monday- Friday housekeeper and groundskeeper on-site always cleaning and maintaining the buildings and amenities. If you read the communication and notices from management and ask questions if help is needed it is incredible what the positive outcome could be. Grown adults not taking accountability for their actions. 400+ people reside here and I know it’s not easy to keep everyone happy and up to date but I continue to stay, haven’t looked for housing elsewhere in over 4 years. To be noted- I was not paid to write this either I did this out of the respect The Murray team deserves.

I lived at The Murray for almost 3 years. I left because I needed to go back home. Let's just say I wish I didn't have to leave. The property was nice, the staff was amazing and I miss the fast acting maintenance 😭. Great place but better people.

living here has been smooth! the community is great, the grounds are clean and the there are things to do during the month for social events that let us interact with our neighbors! it’s a great place!

I would like to start off by saying that the staff here is wonderful, particularly the maintenance crew, and I really do think they try their best but they have not been afforded the recourses needed to manage an apartment complex of this size. My husband and I lived here for about 2.5 years and the first year or so was great. However, things went downhill seemingly very quickly. It almost seems that overnight, the hallways and entry ways went from being well maintained to just dirty. At one point, I noticed a dead bug stuck to a wall in one of the hallways that remained there for over a month. People were drawing designs into the dust left on the windowsills and the carpets all had really gross stains on them. The cleaning staff was clearly stretched way too thin and weren’t able to maintain all of the buildings because when we first moved in, things looked ok. The apartments themselves look nice but are just not well built; our light fixtures would shake and flicker whenever our upstairs neighbors walked around and we could hear every single step that they took. If you do end up moving here, try your hardest to get an apartment on the top floor unless you want to listen to thumping and creaky floor boards above your head all day. The amenities seem nice but the filters in the pool were constantly breaking and unless you were able to get to the pool at 11 am on a Tuesday, you were going to be met with entire families throwing parties and utilizing the pool area. Their kids would toss the lounge chairs into the pool and throw things at people who were just trying to relax. Of course it’s against the rules for tenants to bring more than 2 guests to the pool but that rule was never enforced. I guess enough people complained because they did eventually get one singular $50 camera from Amazon to watch over the pool area. We left right around the time they installed this camera and can’t say whether or not it had any effect on things. Both mine and my husband’s cars were side swiped in the parking lot. His accident occurred first and when he went to the staff about it, they said that there’s nothing the can do because there are no cameras. That’s a bit ridiculous to me; a complex of this size with hundreds of tenants living here should have cameras watching the parking lot at the very least. I don’t even bother reporting when my car ALSO got hit. One of the reasons we chose this apartment complex was because we liked how safe it felt. In order to get into any of the buildings, you need a key fob. However, about 2 months before we moved out, the electronic lock to our building broke which meant that anyone could just walk in. That lock was still broken on the day we turned in our keys. I understand that issues like that probably require a special kind of repair however seeing as a broken lock is a major safety concern, it frustrates me that it was allowed to remain broken for so long. The final straw was when I had to file my SECOND police report after multiple packages of mine were stolen from the mail room. The staff said there was nothing they could do 🤷🏻♀️. I will end this by reiterating that the staff is great; I’ve never lived somewhere with a more attentive and friendly maintenance staff. They always responded to requests quickly and were very respectful about going into people’s homes. Ultimately, we moved to an apartment up the road and pay less money for nicer accommodations. The Murray is just simply not worth what it costs to live there. ETA: there was a point when they were offering the chance to win money off of your rent for leaving them a review on Google so just keep that in mind while reading some of the 5 star reviews here.
