A 4.5-star rating is not high enough for the experience I had at Halls Chophouse. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. This was a perfect dinner with no notes. Let’s start with the ambiance. Stunning. Moody, romantic, old-school, and classy in the best way. The drinks were also excellent. They were balanced, delicious, and thoughtfully made. After I told our server the type of drink I usually like, he had the bartender surprise me with something, and it was perfect. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned, and he absolutely raved about it. The service was some of the best I have ever experienced. I don’t think my drink was empty once. Not a single detail was missed. Our shareable appetizer came with tongs, and the servers portioned the shareable sides for us so we didn’t have to. The owner, servers, runners, and managers were constantly checking in to make sure everything was just right. Now the food. The highest praise in this entire review goes to the chef. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The calamari was fried perfectly, flavorful, and served with a great sauce. The shrimp cocktail was simple, fresh, and delicious, with avocado slices that were such a nice touch. The bread was tasty and kept us happy while we waited. The rack of lamb was delicious, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The ribeye and lobster tail were also cooked beautifully and seasoned well. The lobster mac was excellent, with nice chunks of lobster, great flavor, and it was not overly cheesy. The broccolini was perfectly cooked, not too soggy and not too crisp. I was completely stuffed, but I still had to try the bread pudding, and it was absolutely worth it. I was only visiting Charleston to see a few friends for Fourth of July weekend, but I would come back just to eat at Halls Chophouse again.

Always a pleasure to get to eat here. Valet parking. The atmosphere is very sophisticated and definitely makes you want to dress up more. There is an upstairs dining room as well as a downstair dining room by the bar. Also a side porch, which is covered. The food is always tasty beyond what other restaurants try to achieve. Especially their steaks. This time we went for lunch. I had prime ribeye sandwich and pepper jack creamed corn skillet. My wife had prime ribeye steak benedict. Both were very tasty. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Keep in mind to definitely make a reservation. Also, if you go for dinner, be prepared for high prices. The lunch was reasonable, for this restaurant, at $100. We went for dinner a year ago, it was $207. Great place, definitely a must dine!

It was my daughter’s 29th birthday we went there to celebrate for her birthday. The waitress was terrible from the start. The food was delicious. l ask her for a straw she walks away shaking her head. Never came back to refill our drinks. My daughter was looking forward for the dessert menu but the waitress was so very rude we just left. We ordered more food but that’s the pictures I made. The waitress acted like she didn’t want to be there. I told my daughter don’t let the waitress get to you we will make the best out of it as a family there was 5 of us. I felt bad for my daughter she counted on going there for her Birthday.

I have to start by saying the food at Halls Chophouse Nexton is truly phenomenal and the atmosphere itself is beautiful. The dishes were well-executed, flavorful, and deserving of the positive reputation Halls is known for. That said, I was disappointed in the overall experience. I’ve always heard Halls described as a premier dining destination, and I went in with that expectation. I recognize that our reservation was on a Saturday during Restaurant Week, which I understand can be busier than usual, so I tried to be understanding. However, my guest and I were seated in the bar/table area, which significantly impacted our evening. The space was not conducive to the romantic dinner we had hoped for, and to be candid, the layout and ambience in that section felt closer to a casual chain restaurant than a fine dining establishment. I thought it was a mistake initially because I made the reservation but the staff double down and sat us in the bar dining area. In addition, the service was noticeably slow throughout the evening. I don’t want to be overly critical, and I genuinely respect the effort required to serve during high-volume times, but based on my experience, I did not feel the level of hospitality and attentiveness that typically defines a high-end dining experience. While the quality of the food was exceptional, the overall service and seating negatively impacted our visit. For those reasons, I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

Our night was absolutely perfect! From the moment we walked in the staff was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was great and it really felt like everyone was working together as a team, a family, to make this evening enjoyable. The menu showcased many different options and the a la carte style made the decision very easy. The elegance, style, lighting and wonderful staff moving around to service the diners made me feel very comfortable and relaxed during our meal. Well worth the expense! Something everyone should experience! And the thank you note from our amazing waiter was a wonderful personal touch that warmed our hearts!
