Halls Chophouse Nexton (Summerville)

I have to start by saying the food at Halls Chophouse Nexton is truly phenomenal and the atmosphere itself is beautiful. The dishes were well-executed, flavorful, and deserving of the positive reputation Halls is known for. That said, I was disappointed in the overall experience. I’ve always heard Halls described as a premier dining destination, and I went in with that expectation. I recognize that our reservation was on a Saturday during Restaurant Week, which I understand can be busier than usual, so I tried to be understanding. However, my guest and I were seated in the bar/table area, which significantly impacted our evening. The space was not conducive to the romantic dinner we had hoped for, and to be candid, the layout and ambience in that section felt closer to a casual chain restaurant than a fine dining establishment. I thought it was a mistake initially because I made the reservation but the staff double down and sat us in the bar dining area. In addition, the service was noticeably slow throughout the evening. I don’t want to be overly critical, and I genuinely respect the effort required to serve during high-volume times, but based on my experience, I did not feel the level of hospitality and attentiveness that typically defines a high-end dining experience. While the quality of the food was exceptional, the overall service and seating negatively impacted our visit. For those reasons, I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

We dined here on a Friday evening. I had the 6 oz grass fed filet mignon and my husband had the 8 oz filet mignon. We shared two family style sides- Brussel sprouts and shrimp and grits. All of the food was SO good! We also took a cinnamon roll cheesecake to go. The cheesecake was possibly the best cheesecake that we’ve ever had. They were out of draft beer, but we had other beer options that they brought in a glass. It was good too. The service was nice, everyone was very friendly. We will dine here again.

Halls Chophouse Nexton was an excellent experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is polished yet comfortable, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. I had the crab soup and the burger, and both were outstanding. The crab soup was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor—comforting but refined. The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and balanced, easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Everything came out beautifully presented and right on time. You can tell quality and consistency are a priority here, and it shows in every detail. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want a great meal, this place delivers. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Came here yesterday for my birthday and it was absolutely amazing! The best meal my husband and I have ever had. We both got the Australian "Westholme" New York Strip and while very expensive, it was fantastic. Just melts in your mouth and it was cooked perfectly at medium. Husband got the baked potato as a side with it and it was so soft and creamy. I got the lobster mac and cheese as a side and it was excellent. We got complimentary champagne which was yummy and much appreciated. We also got the calamari appetizer and they were delicious! I wasn't a huge fan of the Asian sauce they had but whatever the green sauce is that also came with it was very good. Our server Erwin M was great and attentive and took his time explaining our options as we've never been there before. While it wasn't cheap in any sense of the word, it was absolutely worth the price for such an amazing meal and birthday experience. I definitely want to come back for our anniversary!

I had another amazing experience at this restaurant! It really is one of the best places to eat in the area. Right from the start, the service was fantastic—every team member was friendly and genuinely attentive, making sure we felt right at home. Now, let’s talk about the food—it was incredible! Every dish was bursting with flavor and looked gorgeous on the plate. I highly recommend trying their signature dish; it’s a standout that absolutely blew me away. Overall, everything from the ambiance to the delicious food made for a memorable meal, and I’m sure anyone who visits will leave with a smile on their face!
