I loved my visit at Summerville Baptist (Pinewood campus). The people were so warm and friendly, the music was wonderful, and the service was inspirational. I loved the visiting preacher’s sermon on Jesus the Great High Priest. It was also so good to see how people hung around afterward for a long time talking. I got to meet Pastor Sam, which was wonderful. My kids had a great time in their class and nursery as well. We will definitely return when we are back in the area. It was also great to see a space (like the school get double-use since there are so many other antiquated “church” buildings all around the south that basically only get used once a week.

Great service. 10 baptisms. Met couple from my home town in Maryland although I have been living here since 1977

Amazing, down to earth people. Very welcoming. Excellent teaching from a humble, friendly pastor. Two choices of worship styles.

I visited Summerville Baptist on July 6, 2025, at 8:15 a.m. The people were friendly enough, and an attendant kindly helped us find a place to park. I came to hear Jesus praised—high and lifted up—as the singular focus of congregational worship. Instead, we witnessed an indulgence in worldly idolatry: honoring the works of man and worshiping country through the presentation of colors, inwardly focused patriotic songs, and nostalgic storytelling. Sadly, the service was marked by much moralism. The preacher strayed far from the biblical text. I did not hear a clear call to repentance, nor was sin meaningfully addressed. I have no doubt that the brothers and sisters here love Jesus. That said, if any part of you is reformed, there are more faithful churches to consider.

I can’t say enough positive remarks about this amazing church. I was fairly new to the area and was having a difficult time finding a church that I felt was a good match for me. I thought I had found one; I met a wonderful woman who invited me to her church. After attending the services for a few weeks, I spoke to my friend about joining a Sunday school class. Knowing that I was divorced, she recommended one class over the others because of my “situation “. I was heartbroken. I had been through a painful divorce after decades of marriage. I was still wearing the battle scars. I left that day and never returned. After watching Summerville Baptist online, I decided to give it a try. I loved the worship music, the sermon, and the people I encountered. But I froze when one of the women I met invited me to meet the pastor and his wife. I knew they would ask about me and I was so nervous about their reaction to my “situation “. But she was persistent, so I went. I’m so glad I did!!! They were kind, welcoming, and understanding. They told me that there wasn’t a person there that was perfect. They didn’t make me feel like I was a sinner, they didn’t even know my whole story, but they wanted to assure me that I was welcome regardless of anything in my past. I attended Summerville Baptist Church until I moved away to be closer to my family. I still watch the services online and long to be in one of those pews. If you are looking for a church, please check this one out. Just like me, you will be so thankful that you did. God bless Pastor Randy, Sherry, and all those wonderful people who embraced me and made me feel like one of their own! I love and miss you all!
